Super Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is a chocolate chip cookie you can feel good about eating! Not only are they super delicious, they are also loaded with lots of fibre and whole grains. Me and my siblings used to beg for them when we were kids, and we still love them to this day.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup (1 square) margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 cup sunflower seeds

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and place rack in center of oven. Cover baking sheets with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, wheat germ, oats, and baking soda. In a separate bowl, cream together the margarine and brown sugar with a mixer. Add in the egg and vanilla and mix until smooth.

Add the flour mixture and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips, sunflower seeds, and chopped nuts.

Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
