Nutella Brownies

These are my favourite brownies EVER! They are the perfect combination of chewy, moist, and fudgey - and let's face it, you know it's going to be good whenever you add Nutella to anything!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 / 4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 cup Nutella, plus extra to be drizzled on top
1 / 2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup margarine, melted then cooled slightly
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts - I used walnuts, but hazelnuts would be even better to make the brownies taste even more like Nutella.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Line an 8x8" square pan with parchment paper, letting the paper extend over two of the sides. Lining the pan with parchment paper going up two sides is really helpful when it's time to cut the brownies and time to clean up! It allows you to lift the entire brownie out of the pan and onto the cutting board with no mess leftover and no brownie stuck in the pan. Grease the other two sides with non-stick cooking spray or butter.

In a bowl, combine the flour and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, beat the eggs, Nutella, brown sugar, and vanilla extract with a mixer until smooth. With a mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture and melted butter, alternating between the two. Pour the batter into the square pan.

Bake about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean with a few crumbs attached. You might find you have to bake them a little bit longer than the suggested baking time to get them perfectly chewy. The middle of the brownie will most likely always be gooey so don't worry about trying to get the middle to cook completely through or you'll end up overcooking all the outside edges.

Once out of the oven, cool the brownies in the pan for about 2 hours so that they can firm up and become easier to cut. I know it's hard to wait, but it really is beneficial to cool the brownies completely in the pan before you try to cut them. This way you get nice, even squares rather than a crumbly, hot mess of brownie. I usually just cool them for about 15-20 minutes on a wire rack and then put them in the fridge to speed up cooling.

Melt some Nutella in the microwave (only for about 15-20 seconds just so it's easier to pour), then drizzle the Nutella and sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over the top of the brownies. Do this before you cut the brownies, then cut into any size squares you choose.
